The security of Minister of Justice Bojan Božović has been increased, it was confirmed to "Vijesta" from two sources.
According to that information, Božović has been under increased security measures since August 29, that is, since the evening when Turkish citizen Binali Camgoz was handed over to the authorities in Ankara, who are charging him with several serious crimes.
Montenegro extradited Camgoz (41) after Božović overturned the earlier decision of his predecessor, Andrej Milović, who refused to extradite the Turkish citizen in January.
On the same night when Camgoz, with strong security measures, was sent on a flight to Turkey, a press conference was held at which the Minister of Justice said that the Security Council meeting concluded that Camgoz represents a threat to national security.
"All institutions have suggested to the Ministry of Justice that we act like this, especially considering all the conclusions from the Security Council session. This is the final solution," said Božović at the time.
Camgoz's legal representatives, lawyers Miloš Vuksanović and Marko Radović, submitted a criminal complaint against Božović to the Special State Prosecutor's Office, stating that it is a "legal scandal and the intention to extradite Camgoz to Turkey after all". Božović then said that he understands lawyers, because they protect the interests of their clients, but also emphasized that "they must also understand that the function of the Minister of Justice, among other things, is to protect the interests of all citizens and the state of Montenegro."
Camgoza was first arrested by the Montenegrin police on an Interpol warrant in July 2022.
At the time of his arrest, he had with him a forged passport in the name of Mehmet Ali Bajhan. A month earlier, using that forged passport, he founded the company "Lion & D" in Budva, whose activity is real estate construction.
Camgoz was immediately wanted by Turkey, for conducting criminal proceedings for several crimes, including the creation of a criminal organization and attempted murder.
The High Court found in April 2023 that the conditions for this were met, but the decision not to extradite him to Turkey was made by Milović in January of this year with the explanation that "he is a member of the Kurdish community and a Shiite Muslim, whose family he is a member of ( son) died as a result of the actions of Turkish security authorities".
Among the reasons for refusing extradition is the poor state of health of the Turkish citizen, who has been immobile for years.
