The continuation of the trial of Slobodan Peković, accused of war crimes against the civilian population, which was scheduled yesterday in the High Court in Podgorica, was postponed due to illness, lawyer Mirjana Camović, ex officio defense attorney, told "Vijesta".
"The hearing of the main trial was postponed because the defendant is sick. On Friday, I went to visit him at UIKS, but he was unable to come, so he gave me the premises to talk with the defense attorneys. I called UIKS and they said he was stable. They did not bring him to the trial because they took him to the Emergency Center," said lawyer Camović.
According to the indictment, on June 8, 1992, in a military attack on the village of Hum, which belongs to the Municipality of Foča in Bosnia and Herzegovina (BiH), Peković killed Muj and Emina Šabanović.
At the trial, he pleaded not guilty to the rape of the victim A1 in September 1992.
"I do not admit guilt, nor a criminal offense. I never ran away, nor did I hide. There is no reason to run away. I want to prove my innocence. In the judgment of the Hague Tribunal against General Ratko Mladić, this case of the Šabanović family was mentioned and the names of the murderers were not mentioned. On that day, I was not in the village of Hum, I was in my village of Žemčno in Piva. I had a fight with Obren Gojković. I have medical documentation and an official note from the police station in Plužine where I was taken into custody. to the court.
