The president of the club of deputies of Democratic Montenegro, Boris Bogdanović, said that today's action of the Special State Prosecutor's Office (SDT) and the Special Police Department (SPO) once again reminded that "the security sector, which should protect the citizens of Montenegro, in the previous thirty years served criminal structures".
Strahinja Koprivica from Nikšić, the son of long-time retired police official Duško Koprivica, was arrested this morning on the order of the SDT on suspicion that he had been involved in smuggling drugs and loads of cigarettes for a long period of time. The criminal complaint also includes a high-ranking member of the Škaljar criminal clan, Igor Krstović, who was arrested in Budva at the end of March and is in Spuša custody. SPO officers also arrested Blaž Đurković, Nikola Vukotić and Marinko Koprivica, who are believed to have been members of this criminal organization and to have had clear responsibilities in the clan.
"Narcotic clans, corruption and greed have destroyed the key pillars of our state. And this is not an isolated case - it is a systemic problem that has been ignored for years, while honest people suffered the consequences. Today we are witnesses that those who were supposed to defend us, did not serve to the law and to the citizens, but to the criminal structures. We will not allow the institutions of Montenegro to be used as a private service for criminals. United and determined citizens of Montenegro will stand in the way of corruption, crime and all deformations that have set us back. Nikšić, Podgorica, Cetinje, Budva and the whole of Montenegro deserve a security sector that works exclusively for the interests of citizens, not for the interests of criminal clans," said Bogdanović.
It has also been and will continue to send a clear message that SDT and the security sector are cleaning Montenegro of drug clans "and their protectors within the system".
"Those who got rich at the expense of the future of our families, our cities and our children must be held accountable. Criminals and their protectors will no longer rule this country. Montenegro is waking up and going even stronger against all forms of crime and corruption," Bogdanović concluded. .
