The police in Pljevlja arrested fellow citizen DV on suspicion that he attacked neuropsychiatrist Ilhan Tursumović at the Pljevlja hospital with a knife today.
The director of the General Hospital in Pljevlja, Saša Grbović, said that Tursumović suffered a stab wound in the abdomen and cuts on his hands and chest.
"Tursumović's life is not in danger and his medical treatment is currently being carried out," said Grbović.
According to unofficial information, DV came to the hospital today and attacked Tursumović because the doctor refused to sign his medical certificate for carrying weapons the previous day.
One of the patients who was waiting for an examination came to Tursumović's aid.
The police also announced, saying that 65-year-old Pljevljak was deprived of his liberty.
"Today, he physically, and then with the use of a cold weapon - a knife, attacked a doctor in the Pljevlja General Hospital and injured him in the chest area.
The medical staff will make a statement about the severity of the injuries, while the acting prosecutor is expected to provide a legal qualification of the act after reviewing the case files," the police said in a statement.
