For at least ten days, the residents of Sokolac, a mountain village above Tomaševo, called and reported to the Bijelo Polska police that a suspicious man was walking with a rifle in the katun and the surrounding forests, visiting houses and residents.
"He presented himself as a hunter," claim the residents of the village where his own brother and sister, Milanka and Jovan Madžgalj, were killed in the family home on Friday evening.
The police believe that the crime was committed by Alija Balijagić from Bjelopolska, who after the lifeless bodies of Madžagalj were found, is being sought by the entire police force, which uses thermal imaging cameras, tracking dogs, drones, and MUP helicopters flew over the vast forests and villages of the Vraneška Valley during the day. ...
Tonight, the Special Purpose Squad, an elite special unit of the Army of Montenegro, joined the search, whose members were sent to the area where Balijagić is being searched for.
At this moment, the police know that Balijagić is armed and that he has ammunition, but also that he knows well all the villages and the mountain range of the Vraneška valley, which makes the pursuit much more difficult.
The day after the double murder, the crucial question arises as to whether the police responded adequately when they received numerous calls from the village that a suspicious man had appeared in the katun, as well as who and in what way made the schedule in the entire security system.
Several interlocutors of "Vijesti" from the Police Directorate confirmed that after several days of calls from the locals, they immediately assumed that it was Alija Balijagić, who was known to be a repeat offender for decades in the commission of serious crimes, a bandit who spread fear in the villages of Bijelo Polje, a rapist. ..
In addition, the police knew that Balijagić had also stolen a weapon from the house of a Bjelopolje resident, that he was armed and had ammunition, and was dangerous, but that was not enough to start searching for him with much more operatives before the crime.
Those familiar with the security system believe that in this case the system was probably scheduled and that the police acted badly on numerous reports from the locals that an armed suspect was roaming around their village.
"Obviously, there was a lack of a more serious, timely and planned search, as well as the police's persistence to go and arrest the dangerous Balijagić with all available operatives," asserts a "Vijesti" source from the police.
After the call, police patrols visited the village, but during their visit to Sokolac, they did not find him for days...
Only when a crime occurred in the village, uniformed police, members of the elite PTJ and PJP units, the Border Police, and search leaders from all sectors of the Police Administration system were sent to the mountain and forest terrain.
During the day, the police also published a photo of the suspect Balijagić and appealed that if anyone notices Balijagić or has any information about him, report it immediately to the emergency service number OB Bijelo Polje - 067/184-844 or toll-free 122...
The police administration appealed to the citizens of Bijelo Polje, especially the residents of the village of Sokolac and surrounding towns, to be careful, stay in their houses and not allow unknown persons to enter.
Apart from the search, one of the important questions is whether someone from the North Regional Center and the Police Administration system will be responsible for the actions of the police during the multi-day search for Balijagić, who has been sowing fear in the surrounding villages for years...
The big question is when and whether the Basic State Prosecutor's Office in Bijelo Polje was informed at all that the residents of the village above Tomaševo have been calling and reporting an armed man for days because they fear for their safety.
During the internal investigation, which will certainly be opened, it is also important to determine whether the prosecutor gave the police instructions or orders as to how and in what manner to act after reports from the residents of Sokolac.
