Interior Minister Danilo Saranović said that the event in Bijelo Polje reminds us of how important citizens' trust in the work of the police and the security sector is, and he pointed out that citizens are always right when they demand safety, responsibility and transparency.
He said that all omissions must be clearly addressed, and anyone who could have prevented the double murder of Milanka and Jovan Madžgalje. A brother and sister were killed on Friday evening in the Bijelo Polje village of Sokolac, and the police are still looking for the suspect Alija Balijagić.
"Your attitude and your expectations must be respected, because the state must serve you, the citizens of Montenegro. Also, it is important that the responsibility in this case be individualized and that all potential failures are identified. Anyone who could have prevented this tragic event, and he is not, he will have to answer. Every mistake or omission must be clearly addressed and processed," Saranović said in a statement sent to the media.

He appealed to all citizens of Bijelo Polje and surrounding towns to remain calm, but cautious, and to help the police by reporting any information that could contribute to the arrest of the suspect.
"With joint forces, trust and cooperation, we can ensure that similar tragic events do not repeat themselves in the future. I emphasize once again: citizens are right when they demand responsibility and security. It is our duty to fulfill that," Saranović concluded.
