Several Bjelopolje families are under strict police surveillance due to fears that Alija Balijagić (65) could take revenge, Vijesti learns.
According to unofficial information, the families under surveillance have allegedly been at odds with Balijagić for a long time, who is suspected of killing a brother and sister in the hamlet of Sokolac. Jovana (60) and Milenka Madžgalj (69)
"Officials of the Police Administration are guarding members of several families, with whom the fugitive had verbal but brutal physical conflicts. Some of these conflicts ended before the courts," a source from the Police Administration told Vijesti.
According to him, it would not be the first time for Balijagić to stray into the wilderness, which is known to the police as well as his lifestyle.
"He is dangerous, armed and a good shooter. He managed to escape to the terrain he knows in his heart. Forests are its natural shelter, it does well in the mountains above Bijelo Polje, Pljevlje, Mojkovac, as well as in the border areas with Serbia and Bosnia and Herzegovina", explains the interviewee.
Since the evening of October 25, the police and the army have been looking for a sixty-five-year-old man from Bjelopolje for a double murder with a hunting rifle, in the home of Madžgalje.
Previously, they were looking for him for days due to the suspicion that he broke into a fellow citizen's house at the end of September VB and stole two rifles from her.
In the Danilovgrad Center for Forensics, they determined that the Madžgalj brother and sister were killed by one of those guns. His biological traces were also found at the crime scene.
According to the knowledge of Vijesta, Balijagić ransacked the house of the victims after the murders.
"During the investigation, it was established that he killed Jovan Madžgalje through the window, and that he then broke into the house and fired two shots at his sister. Then he did a sweep. He did not steal the weapons that were in the house, nor the money, but we assume that he took some ammunition and food with him. We learned that after the murder of Madžgalj, in the same village, he knocked on the door of a temporary woman. She didn't open it for him, but in the morning she saw that he had stolen apples from the table in front of the house. All this leads to the conclusion that he prepared for a few days of life in the wild," said one of the interlocutors.
As he adds, Balijagić ran away to the forest for the first time at the age of twenty...
"He knows where the caves and abandoned huts are. That, as well as the fact that we didn't have a clear trail for him, which gave him an advantage, makes the search difficult, but we believe that this fugitive - murderer, rapist and robber - will still be found", claims the interlocutor from the police.
He told Vijesti that the police is doing everything to find him, despite the impression of some citizens.
"Colleagues, with the help of special military forces, are doing everything to find him. Every application has been verified. And what the public does not see, and which is very important - we are aware of the risk to which our colleagues are exposed who guard houses in Bjelopolje villages, for example those where families who are at odds with Balijagić live or the house of the martyred Madžgalje, but that is an integral part of our work", said one of the interlocutors.
A police officer with many years of experience, he recalled the arrest of Balijagić back in 2003.
"Even then there was a chase after him, he was armed and had a lot of ammunition. After he was surrounded on the ground, and while the special forces from the helicopter held him at gunpoint, he fled under the underpass, among the citizens, threw the rifle, raised his hands and shouted to surrender. In the station, he said that not long before that, he was able to kill three colleagues who were looking for him in a village, because, as he claimed, he was holding them at gunpoint from the hay in which he was hiding. That's when he said that he would never surrender again without a bullet," said that interlocutor to Vijesti.
No sign of the killer
The search for the killer from Bijelo Polje lasts for a hundred hours.
They are looking for him through the forests, along the roads, in abandoned houses, checking who is driving through the Vraneška valley... Apart from the villages and towns above Bijelo Polje, the police and military special forces searched for Balijagić in the hills above Mojkovac, Kolašin, Pljevlje and Beran... .
Apart from one clue - two cartridges found fifteen meters from the house where he killed the innocent Madžgalje, nothing indicates the direction in which the criminal fled.
Evidence recovered from the scene showed that Balijagić killed his brother and sister in Sokolac on Friday, October 25, around 21.10:XNUMX p.m., and then fled.
With a hunting rifle, most likely a five-shot, he shot at people who had fed him and treated him to brandy a few hours before.
He did this only a few hours after the police, in search of Balijagić, visited the village of Sokolac and the hamlet of Zaboj, where the house of the martyred Madžgalja is located.
After he shot Jovan Madžgalje in the back, his sister managed to call the police and report the crime.
"That's when the relationship ended. He also killed her," the brother of the murdered told the News two days ago. Velibor Madžgalj.
They disarmed the family of the murdered
During the investigation, the police took away licensed weapons from the house where Jovan and Milenka Madžgalj were killed.
This is what one of their brothers, Velibor Madžgalj, told Vijesti two days ago.
"The police disarmed us, even though it was all under permission. Now if he comes, we have nothing to defend ourselves with, maybe with an axe. I don't know if we can have an ax. And they didn't disarm him," he said.
