The non-governmental organization Sistem expressed its protest over the decision of the judge of the Basic Court in Podgorica not to accept a restraining order against the suspect for violence against his wife.
"We inform the Montenegrin public that the judge of the Basic Court in Podgorica, R.Ć., does not accept the measure forbidding access to V.Đ.'s wife, whom he beat, strangled and threatened to kill for a long period of time, even during the entire pregnancy. No we can't help but notice that this is the same judge who previously canceled V.Đ's detention and called the long-term mental and physical abuse of a pregnant woman a single event," said Neda Radović, director of the NGO Sistem, a licensed shelter/reception center service for victims of violence (a confidential person in this procedure).
He says that it is "very interesting" that R.Ć. the judge on duty always when deciding on the case of V.Đ.
"Even after hearing in the Prosecutor's Office all the witnesses, the submitted evidence, the same does not appreciate that there is enough material, at least a restraining order. Montenegrin women, girls and girls should know more than 20 attacks with direct threat to life, strangulation, threats with a loaded official pistol for the mentioned to the judge, they do not constitute a sufficient threat to security, nor does the instruction issued by the VDT, after addressing the same, to start at least a restraining order, if the defendant is not already in custody. Bearing in mind the fact that these measures are the only institutional ones mechanism for the prevention of new violence and for empowering victims, and increasing their confidence in the institutional system of protection, we invite the Judicial Council to get involved and that as soon as possible the Council for the Evaluation of the Work of Judges evaluates the correctness of the actions of the judge of the Basic Court R.Ć," said Radović .
