Lawyer Damir Lekić, the defense attorney of the defendant Dražen Vojvodić, accused of the murder of Vidak Vujović, requested today in the High Court in Podgorica the exemption of the Supreme State Prosecutor.

The president of the panel, judge Veljko Radovanović, postponed the hearing of the main trial in the case against Vojvodić and Novica Đikanović, who are accused of the criminal offense of aggravated murder of Vidak Vujović, in connection with illegal possession of weapons and explosive substances. The next trial is scheduled for November 11.

Lawyer Lekić previously submitted requests for the exemption of the acting state prosecutor and the head of the Higher State Prosecutor's Office in Podgorica.

"Today, I submitted a request for the disqualification of the Supreme State Prosecutor of Montenegro, due to the handling of the case. I proposed that the president of the council submit the files to the case session of the Supreme State Prosecutor's Office in order to decide on my request," said Lekić.

He adds that he still cannot understand the attitude of the prosecutors towards the lawyers, which refers to the fact that there are always flaws in this procedure.

"Once again, the situation is repeated that even the Supreme State Prosecutor's Office, as the defense attorney who submitted the request for exemption, does not hand over the decision that decided on that request," said Lekić.

He adds that he learned about his request only at one of the previous main hearings, which was handed to him by Judge Radovanović. He was then informed that the Supreme State Prosecutor rejected his request for the exemption of the head of the Higher State Prosecutor's Office.

"The practice is repeated with the supreme state prosecutor, so that the decision is delivered to me by the court, and not by the body that made that decision and is obliged to deliver it. In this case too, the decision was rather harsh, it is simply a standard decision against which there is no right of appeal. I believe that the Supreme State Prosecutor also supports the acting State Prosecutor and the head of the Higher State Prosecutor's Office in illegal work, because they use evidence that was not obtained in accordance with the law. Therefore, it is about legally invalid evidence that cannot exist in the case files or be used. Unfortunately, there is a chain of illegality here," said Lekić.

The indictment stated that on March 31, 2023, in Šteke, Podgorica, the defendants killed Vujović in an insidious and ferocious manner, as per a prior agreement, they lured the victim to an uninhabited part of the Šteke settlement, to an inaccessible place. So that Vojvodić, using their earlier acquaintance, drove him to the scene in a "VW Golf V" vehicle, and when the victim got out of the vehicle, fired at least four projectiles from a "CZ M57" pistol in the same direction, of which he was hit by four projectiles. And because between the four projectiles fired, Vujović was alive and told the defendant "don't", during which time he suffered severe suffering and severe pain, which the defendant Vojvodić did not do, but continued to fire the projectiles at the victim . During that time, Đikanović was on the spot and observed everything, after which Vojvodić fired a projectile that inflicted fatal injuries on the victim, resulting in his death. After that, together with Đikanović, according to the indictment, he poured gasoline and set fire to the lifeless body of the injured Vujović, and then they left the scene together. On April 12, 2023, the defendant Đikanović kept seven pieces of pistol ammunition in his family home in Farmaci, Podgorica, without the approval of the competent authority.

Vojvodić committed the criminal offense of aggravated murder under Article 144 paragraph 1 point I in connection with Article 23 paragraph 2 of the Criminal Code of Montenegro in conjunction with the criminal offense of illegal possession of weapons and explosives under Article 403 paragraph 1 of the Criminal Code of Montenegro, and Đikanović committed a serious criminal offense murder from Article 144 paragraph 1 item 1 in connection with Article 23 paragraph 2 of the Criminal Code of Montenegro and the criminal offense of illegal possession of weapons and explosive substances from Article 403 paragraph 1 of the Criminal Code of Montenegro, the indictment says.
