The Basic State Prosecutor's Office in Podgorica announced that, acting in accordance with the instructions of the Supreme State Prosecutor for cases of torture, they filed an indictment against two police officers.

The indictment was filed against Aleksa Asanović and Momir Popović.

"The indictment proposal was brought against the defendant AA for the criminal offense - abuse, because in September 2022, in the premises of the Police Department of the Danilovgrad Security Department, as an official, he abused the victim BB and treated him in a way that insults human dignity." the prosecution announced.

"After this event, the defendant AA and his colleague MP entered untrue information into the official document of the Police Directorate and certified it with their signatures and official seal, which is why they are charged with the criminal offense of falsifying an official document. The indictment was also brought for the criminal offense - giving a false statement, which two police officers, as witnesses in the proceedings, gave before the Basic State Prosecutor's Office in Podgorica," the announcement reads.
