For fifteen days, the Montenegrin police could not trace the fugitive Alija Balijagić (65), who is wanted on suspicion that on October 25, in the Bjelopolje hamlet of Sokoloac, he killed his brother and sister with shots from a hunting rifle in their home - Jovana (60) and Milenka Madžgalj (69)
Apart from the Montenegrin police, the Montenegrin army is also searching for the rapist and robber, who spent almost four decades in prisons, and for several days now the Serbian police, who have been searching the area on their side of the border. Croatian police officers, with specially trained search dogs, are also involved in the search.
The Police Administration told "Vijesti" yesterday that they are on the ground day and night, that they are searching every inch of the territory where there is even the slightest hint or clue that would lead them to Balijagić, but that nothing has yielded results.
"All the villages in the vicinity of Bijelo Polje, but also in the wider region, are being searched. The teams responded to every citizen report, but none of them resulted in finding the fugitive. In addition, abandoned and collapsed buildings in the mountainous area, as well as cottages, were searched. The policemen and soldiers were not withdrawn from the field at any time", said the interlocutor from that security institution.
However, searches on land and from the air, the use of thermal imaging cameras, drones, and search dogs were in vain until last night.
Balijagić was not even found on the territory of Serbia, even though he is the president of that country Aleksandar Vučić on November 4, he said that he would do it quickly.
"We will find him quickly. Everything is very limited for him now, that's all I have to tell you," said Vučić, appearing on TV Hepa.
He then added that he thought his hours were numbered.
"I think his hours are numbered. The man spent 30 or so years in prison. We deprived him of his freedom, we know the path he took even then, through which villages, this is not his first time".
On the territory of Serbia, members of the Criminal Police Directorate, Special Anti-Terrorist Unit, Gendarmerie, border police and police officers from the police departments in Prijepolje and Užice are searching for the escaped bandit, rapist and double murder suspect.
The last report to the local police that Balijagić had been spotted came from the village of Kamena Gora.
Locals demand resignations
Locals of the Vraneška Valley announced that on November 18, at noon, they will begin blocking the main road Bijelo Polje - Mojkovac, in the town of Slijepač most, in order to express their protest because there were none of the requested resignations at the top of the police force, but also because no one he didn't even answer.
Even earlier, they demanded collective responsibility and the immediate dismissal of the director of the Police Directorate Zoran Brđanin, Director of the Directorate, Head of the Regional Center North Haris Đurđević, with all their assistants, and that because of alleged failures in work which, as they claim, caused a double murder in the village of Zaboj.
Although he announced at a press conference on November 1 that the chain of command would be controlled, in order to determine responsibility and whether there were mistakes in the actions of the authorities in the search for Balijagić, the Montenegrin Prime Minister Milojko Spajic two days ago he said that it was not time to assess responsibility.
"It doesn't occur to us to decapitate institutions while there are immediate procedures, such as the search for Balijagić", the media reported his statement from the conference held on November 8 regarding the security situation.
A little earlier, the Deputy Prime Minister for Security, Defense, Crime Fighting and Internal Policy, Aleksa Becic, he said that the authorities of the security sector of Montenegro and Serbia are investing enormous efforts in the search for Balijagić.
A crime
On October 25, Balijagić is suspected to have shot the people who had fed him and treated him with brandy a few hours earlier with a hunting rifle, most likely a five-shot.
He did this only a few hours after the police, in search of Balijagić, visited the village of Sokolac and the hamlet of Zaboj, where the house of the martyred brother and sister Madžgalj is located.
After he shot Jovan Madžgalje in the back, his sister managed to call the police and report the crime.
"That's when the relationship ended. He killed her too," the brother of the murdered told "Vijesti" earlier. Velibor Madžgalj.
The same night, the search for him began, and a day later, the army joined the police who were trying to find the fugitive.
Montenegrin policemen and soldiers are looking for Balijagić through the forests, along the roads, in abandoned houses, they also check who is passing by in cars, checkpoints have been made through the Vraneška valley. In addition to the villages and towns above Bijelo Polje, police and military special forces searched for Balijagić in the hills above Mojkovac, Kolašin, Pljevlje and Beran...
