The President of Montenegro, Jakov Milatović, condemned the attack on "Pobjeda" journalist Ana Raičković and said that the state must clearly demonstrate that such actions are unacceptable.
"I strongly condemn last night's attack on Pobjeda journalist Ana Raičković, who with her son was a victim of physical violence and insults. Every attack on journalists is an attack on media freedom, freedom of speech, the journalistic profession and democracy in Montenegro, and we must not do that let's allow it as a society," wrote Milatović on IX.
The state must clearly show that such actions are unacceptable and create an environment in which journalists will be able to do their work unhindered and without fear, he said.
"The fact that this is not an isolated case and that Montenegro has recently been facing an increase in overall violence and intolerance is worrying, which requires an effective reaction from the competent institutions as well as the attention of the entire society. With the expectation that this case will have a clear legal epilogue, my full support for Ana, with wishes for a speedy recovery," said Milatović.
