Possible accomplices to an escaped double killer Alija Balijagić (65) could be punished with the same punishment as him, if he is ever arrested.
On October 25, Balijagić killed a brother and sister in the village of Sokolac near Bijelo Polje Jovana i Milenka Madžgalj, and since then Montenegrin and Serbian police have been searching for him without success, following reports that he "moved" from the border area of Montenegro to Serbia.
"For the criminal offense of aggravated murder committed by Alija Balijagić (25) on October 65, a prison sentence of at least 10 years or long-term imprisonment is prescribed, and assisting the perpetrator will be punished as if he had committed the crime himself, and and punish more leniently", reads the answer to "Vijesta" from the Higher State Prosecutor's Office.
Insiders claim that Balijagić could have had helpers on the way to hide Balijagić, during which he allegedly traveled more than a hundred kilometers in the border area of Montenegro and Serbia. Such claims, however, currently have no factual basis, nor official confirmation from the authorities.
In the Bijelo Polje village of Kukulje, on October 31, members of the SAJ searched the house and facilities of a family that was allegedly reported by a neighbor saying that he had information that they were helping Balijagić.
"The search was carried out on the basis, that is, in connection with the operational information that the police had, that a wanted person is located in these premises," the Police Administration announced on November 1.
Balijagić, a rapist and perpetrator of serious crimes, spent about half his life in prisons.
According to "Vijesti" information, the outlaw of many years also escaped from Spuški prison, but the authorities are not talking about that.
According to available information that has been made public, since the night of the murder, Balijagić has been seen several times, first in the villages of Orahovica and Kukulje, and then near the border with Serbia.
The Serbian police have been looking for him since November 1, when Serbian MUP Minister Ivica Dačić announced that he was seen in the town of Ivezići near Brodarevo, in the territory of the municipality of Prijepolje.
The Police Administration responded to "Vijesta" that the search for Balijagić is ongoing, that they are still securing the house of the Madžgalj family, and that the four schools near which he was seen are still working online.
They explain that the police are still securing the house of Madžgalja, that is, the scene of the double murder in the hamlet of Sokolac in Bijelo Polje, and that they are undertaking intensive activities within their jurisdiction in search of a person suspected of this crime.
They confirmed that the operational command headquarters based in Tomaševo, which was formed after this event, is still active on the ground, which consists of the head of the Regional Security Center "North", the acting assistant director for the Special Purpose Police Sector, the elder in charge of operational staff affairs from that Sector, as well as the commander of the Special Units of the Army of Montenegro, i.e. his members continue to analyze and develop a further strategy in the search for the face of AB in continuity.
"The police continue to undertake a series of activities in cooperation with the Army of Montenegro, both in the border zone and on the territory of the surrounding villages, which are oriented towards the critical location on the territory of Bijelo Polje, with the aim of finding and depriving the person AB suspected of serious murder" , state in the answer from UP.
They said that after communicating with the Ministry of Education, they sent a letter informing them that due to the double murder in the village of Sokolac and the escape of the perpetrator of that crime, all available capacities of the intelligence and security sector were made available to the Regional Security Center North, specifically in the territory of Bijelo Polje : "In order to establish and preserve the safety and security of citizens in the given circumstances, and with an official and public announcement that citizens (in the town of Sokolac and the surrounding villages) remain sober without allowing entry or any communication with unknown persons in night conditions and inform the police immediately without delay".
"We also inform you that the presence of the police and the Army of Montenegro has been increased in the town of Sokolac in order to preserve internal security, as well as in other nearby villages, which at this moment contributes to the safety of citizens. When it comes to security in schools, we inform you that the officers of the Regional Security Center 'North', with additional assistance, will establish daily communication with school principals and conduct a tour of all the settlements and local communities that gravitate towards the critical area, in order to timely and in real time acted in relation to unforeseen events and took the necessary measures and actions within their competence", reads the response of the Police Administration.
Locals of the Vraneška Valley announced that on November 18 at noon, they would begin a total blockade of the main road Bijelo Polje - Mojkovac, in the town of Slijepač most, in order to express their protest over the fact that there was none of the requested resignations at the top of the police force, but also because they no one even answered.
They demanded collective responsibility and the immediate dismissal of the director of the Police Directorate, Zoran Brđanin, the director of the directorate, the head of the Regional Center North, Haris Đurđević, and all their assistants, due to alleged failures in their work which, they claim, caused the double murder in the village of Zaboj.
Siege of a village on the border with Serbia
"Vijesti" was unofficially told yesterday that numerous police and military forces were sent to a border town with Serbia, after a tip-off that the fugitive Balijagić was recorded by surveillance cameras.
Allegedly, those videos show his movements between three and four in the morning.
The place is about 500 meters from the border with Serbia.
