Supreme State Prosecutor Milorad Marković and Acting Chief Public Prosecutor for War Crimes of Serbia Dušan Knežević signed, in Belgrade, an Agreement on Understanding and Cooperation in the Field of Support for Witnesses, Victims and Victims in Criminal Proceedings for War Crimes, the Supreme State Prosecutor's Office announced.
It is stated that the signed document will enable faster and more efficient cooperation in war crimes cases, as well as the organization of testimony and participation in proceedings for witnesses, victims and injured parties in war crimes cases processed in Serbia and Montenegro, in which witnesses and injured parties participate. who reside in another country.
"The agreement simultaneously contributes to the strengthening of justice and the protection of human rights and confirms the commitment of the prosecutor's offices of Montenegro and Serbia to the protection of victims and witnesses of war crimes," it added.
"The signing of the Agreement, which was organized in the premises of the Public Prosecutor's Office for War Crimes in Belgrade, was attended by the representative of the United Nations Development Program Ivan Jovanović (UNDP)," the announcement reads.
VDT said that during his visit to Belgrade, Marković also had a bilateral meeting with the Supreme Public Prosecutor of Serbia, Zagorka Dolovac.
"At the meeting at the Supreme Public Prosecutor's Office, satisfaction was expressed due to the strengthening of international cooperation and the willingness to improve mutual cooperation even more in order to effectively fight against crime in our region," the announcement concludes.
