The director of the Public Enterprise National Parks of Montenegro, Marinela Đuretić, did not report the threats to the police or the Basic State Prosecutor's Office in Podgorica, as was announced three days ago from the official email of the company she heads.
"The director of the Public Enterprise National Parks of Montenegro did not submit a report to the Security Department in Podgorica regarding the allegations in your questions, while notifications will be collected from her regarding the given circumstances," the Police Directorate replied to "Vijesti".
She allegedly gave a statement to the police yesterday, at their invitation.
The alleged threats to Đuretić and her family, about which JP NPCG informed the public in a press release, and then shared the same text on the company's official profiles, are not being investigated by the prosecution because Đuretić did not address them.
"I am informing you that no case has been opened in the Basic State Prosecutor's Office in Podgorica regarding the above-mentioned issues, nor have we been informed about the event", was the answer to "Vijesta" from ODT Podgorica.
Those "Vijesti" institutions asked when Đuretić reported the threats that, as they claim in the press release from JP NPCG, were addressed to her and her family, but also whether the director of that public company said who had sent her and her family and what kind of threats and did she specify which interest groups and individuals these are.
This is exactly what is written in the press release sent to the media after working hours.
"Individuals and groups whose personal interests are threatened by making responsible and transparent decisions aimed at preserving the natural resources of Montenegro sent threats to the director of JPNPCG Marinela Đuretić and her family. The director of JPNPCG informed the competent state authorities about these threats she received against herself and her family, because of which she feels that their safety is at risk," the company announced on December 5, twenty minutes after 17 p.m.
The company claims that from the moment of her appointment, Đuretić took decisive steps in order to protect nature and the resources that were given to her to manage as a manager, and that she believes that "threats were caused by her recent steps and decisions regarding stopping activities that are in conflict with legal regulations and the interests of local communities, which obviously caused the dissatisfaction of certain interest groups and individuals".
"This is an attack not only on me as a person, but also on the principles that we stand for in JPNPCG - nature conservation, legality and protection of common resources. The company sent to the competent institutions the documentation on the established irregularities and illegal actions carried out by certain persons with the aim of creating personal financial profit, to the detriment of the national parks. I invite the public, competent institutions and the media to support efforts aimed at preserving natural resources and fighting against illegal activities. It is the common responsibility of all of us to protect the integrity of institutions and people who stand up for the public good. I will continue to work in accordance with the law, regardless of pressure. I think that only together we can preserve the natural heritage for future generations", said Đuretić.
In a statement, JP NPCG invited and appealed to all citizens to report illegal actions or threats that may threaten national parks and thus help the company put an end to years of misuse of national parks' resources.
The notification about the alleged threats came a day after the 24kroz7 portal announced that the Minister of Ecology Damjan Ćulafić (Democratic Montenegro) appointed Nenad Ivanović as the director of JP Skadarsko jezero.
Ćulafić denied this, stating that he does not have the authority to make a decision on employment even in the companies over which he exercises administrative supervision.
JP NPCG responded to "Vijesta" two days ago that Ivanović was temporarily assigned to the position of director of JP Skadarsko jezero "from among the employees for the management of the organizational unit of NP Skadarsko jezero in order to perform management functions in the park".
"Bearing in mind that the former director of NP Skadarsko jezero has been assigned to perform other appropriate tasks in JPNPCG in accordance with her professional training and work experience. Such a decision was made, in accordance with Article 49 of the Labor Law, and for the reason that the announcement of the competition and new employment would create additional costs for JPNPCG, which in this period of the year does not generate significant income".
