Confirmed indictment against Lazović and Raičević

The president of the extrajudicial criminal panel of the Basic Court in Podgorica confirmed the indictment of the Basic State Prosecutor's Office in Podgorica, which was brought against Petar Lazović and Jugoslav Raičević for torturing Jovan Mrvaljević and against Lazović for torturing Milo Jovanović.

"The Basic State Prosecutor's Office in Podgorica filed an indictment before the Basic Court in Podgorica, accusing the defendants Petar Lazović and Jugoslav Raičević of having committed the crime of torture as co-perpetrators to the detriment of the injured party, Jovan Mrvaljević, while the defendant Petar Lazović is also charged with the detriment of the injured party. Milo Jovanović, in co-perpetration with as yet unidentified persons, committed the criminal offense of torture," the press release reminds court.

After the hearing held to examine and evaluate the legality and justification of the indictment, the president of the extrajudicial panel assessed that the evidence collected during the investigation "provides sufficient grounds for the conclusion that there is a well-founded suspicion that the defendants committed the criminal acts charged against them".

"Since the president of the non-trial panel did not determine that in this particular case a better clarification of the matter is needed in order to examine the merits of the indictment, there is no need to supplement the investigation, and at the same time she did not find that there are any legal reasons that could lead to the suspension of the criminal proceedings, i.e. rejecting the charge in the specific case, it is a decision made to confirm the indictment in question," the statement reads.

They said that the main trial will be scheduled when the legal conditions are met.
