Lawyers: Up to Kwon, basic human rights are being drastically violated

South Korean citizen Do Kwon cannot be extradited to the United States of America (USA) until the extradition decision is delivered to him and his lawyers, lawyers Goran Rodić and Marija Radulović announced.

They said that, as defenders of Do Kwon, they learned from the media that the Minister of Justice Bojan Božović made a decision to extradite Do Kwon to the USA.

"During the working hours at the Ministry of Justice, we demanded that the relevant decision be delivered to us immediately," stated Rodić and Radulović.

That request, as they said, was directly rejected by Božović.

Rodić and Radulović said that in this way Do Kvo's basic human rights, the right to defense and to a legal remedy, are being drastically violated.

"Behind such illegal behavior of the minister is the fact that the courts, on two occasions in legally binding court decisions, valuing the same parameters that the minister supposedly valued, made a decision to extradite Do Kwon to South Korea," the statement says.

Rodić and Radulović assessed that in this way Do Kvo's elementary right to a legal remedy and review of an "obviously illegal decision" is being violated.

That decision, as they stated, was made in violation of the domestic law, the European Convention on Extradition and the bilateral extradition treaty between Montenegro and the USA.

"Regardless of the illegal intentions of the actors of this procedure, the execution of the decision on Do Kwon's extradition cannot be carried out until his lawyers, as well as him, receive the decision on his extradition in a language he understands," the statement said.
