The Council for Citizen Control of Police Work announced that they are following the events in Cetinje with sadness and special attention, they called on the entire public of Montenegro to have full understanding of all the activities of the Police and to provide support and assistance to all its members in their work.
"Empathy and solidarity are the values of Montenegrin society that need to be fully expressed. We especially ask for the understanding of young people due to the changes in the celebration of the New Year holidays and the upcoming Orthodox Christmas that will inevitably follow. The Council for Citizen Control of Police Work welcomes the quick response of the Police Administration and the timely engagement of the Special Police Such an approach was unfortunately absent in August 2022," said the Council
They assessed that the public of Montenegro had not learned anything from the earlier massacre in Cetinje:
"Unfortunately, she was not provided with the expected information by the responsible and competent authorities. The institutions have passed almost without lessons and now we are already facing the consequences of a new massacre, in just two years, in the same city, in the same country".
The Council appealed to the elders and members of the police to do everything possible, without risking their lives and the lives of the citizens, but also not to deprive the suspected mass murderer of his life: "Because it is crucial for society and justice that he be brought before the court".
"This case once again points to numerous institutional failures, to the need to significantly improve care for victims, but also all mental health issues in society."
