The Montenegrin police conducted searches at several locations throughout the country and confiscated 20 weapons, six sticks of commercial explosives and 520 pieces of ammunition, the Police Administration (UP) announced.
"These activities are the result of intensified measures that officers of the Police Administration carry out against members of organized criminal groups, persons close to them, persons of operational interest, as well as citizens who are suspected of illegally possessing weapons," the announcement states.
"Officers of the Regional Security Center 'North' conducted searches at several locations and seized 28 pieces of ammunition from MR, and also found and seized binding agents and three sprays with an irritating effect. Then, an air rifle was taken from M.Ć's person, 74 rounds of automatic rifle ammunition, two gun cleaning kits, two automatic rifle recoil boosters, from the MoD, a member of an organized crime group, the police took away two pistols and a rifle, as well as 30 pieces of ammunition of different types and calibers. The prosecutor will make a statement regarding the mentioned events after appropriate expert reports," it added.
The UP said that at the level of the Regional Security Center "Zapad" an automatic rifle, a pistol, a hunting rifle, a starting pistol and 369 pieces of ammunition of various types and calibers were confiscated during the search of the PK.
"In relation to this person, the prosecutor will subsequently declare the legal qualification of the event, in relation to the weapon that is under a permit, an administrative procedure will be initiated with the aim of permanent confiscation", the UP stated.
Six pieces of ammunition with a frame were found with MB and, as announced, a criminal report will be filed against him on suspicion of having committed the criminal offense of illegal possession and carrying of weapons and explosive materials.
"In the territory under the jurisdiction of the Regional Security Center 'South', during searches of MR, a citizen of Bosnia and Herzegovina, a starting pistol and two plastic face masks were found and seized. In relation to these events, the prosecutor will later declare a starting gun. In addition, a search of the apartment and other premises used by GK was carried out who previously sent threatening words in relation to two minors. On this occasion, the police found six pieces of ammunition. In Kotor, police officers conducted searches at several locations and found six sticks of commercial explosives, 13 pieces of ammunition, an air rifle with optics, a gas pistol and a small amount of substance suspected to be the intoxicating drug marijuana in the possession of SK and VK.
In relation to these persons, the acting prosecutor will carry out a subsequent legal qualification of the event.
"The police administration continues with increased activities in the fight against illegal possession of weapons, whereby we appeal to citizens to take advantage of the legal opportunity to voluntarily surrender weapons without legal consequences, and in this way contribute to the overall safety of society. We also note that citizens can surrender weapons in relation to which probate proceedings have not been initiated, also without legal consequences. They can do this by calling the police at number 122, informing the police officers that they want to return the weapon, after which the police officer will collect the weapon at the place where the person or the weapon is found and a certificate of collection is issued," said the UP.
"It is important to note that citizens should not bring weapons to police stations themselves, primarily for safety reasons. We also note that today, during the day, three bombs were voluntarily returned to the police at the Regional Security Center 'Centar'. Citizens' trust and cooperation are of key importance for preserving a safe environment and further building a society based on respect for the law and the safety of all citizens of Montenegro," the announcement concludes.
