Serbian police arrested Montenegrin citizen MMV (26) in Kopaonik, who is wanted by Montenegro in accordance with the judgment of the High Court in Podgorica for attempting to rape a helpless person, the Police Directorate (UP) announced today.
"While carrying out activities aimed at locating internationally wanted persons, the police of the Republic of Serbia identified and detained a Montenegrin citizen on Kopaonik, for whom an international warrant was issued by NCB Interpol Podgorica. The person MMV (26) is wanted by Montenegro in accordance with the judgment of the Higher of the court in Podgorica due to the committed criminal offense of assaulting a helpless person in an attempt," the announcement states.
The UP added that the MMV in Serbia has been ordered into extradition custody, and that communication is ongoing between the law enforcement authorities of Montenegro and Serbia with the goal of extradition.
"The police administration continues with the intensive international cooperation of FAST teams for targeted searches, the exchange of intelligence and operational data and information with the aim of locating and depriving the freedom of internationally wanted persons," the statement concludes.
