"I invite all young people who want to be part of the changes and contribute to the security of our country to apply for the public call for employment of 815 new police officers," Minister of the Interior Danilo Šaranović announced today.

Šaranović announced yesterday that a public call for applications for the employment of 815 new police officers has been published.

"This is an opportunity for everyone who has ambition, energy and professionalism to leave their mark and contribute to building a safer future. This year we are introducing a different recruitment process for police officers, based on full transparency. Unlike previous recruitment procedures, candidates will for the first time go through as many as four levels of screening, carried out by specially formed commissions. The goal is to ensure the highest standards of professionalism and integrity in the police," Šaranović emphasized in today's statement.

The statement added that candidates will go through four "filters".

1. Security Obstacles Screening Commission – to ensure that candidates do not have obstacles that would make them unsuitable for police work.

2. The Psycho-Physical Ability Testing Committee – which assesses the physical fitness and psychological resilience of candidates for the challenges of police work.

3. Commission for the Verification of Integrity and Professional Competences – includes a detailed analysis of data on assets and income, psychological testing of moral integrity and oral interviews.

4. Commission for testing knowledge, abilities and skills – where candidates will demonstrate their theoretical knowledge and practical skills through simulations of real situations related to police work.

Šaranović said that all candidates who meet the following requirements can apply for the public call:

• Montenegrin citizenship,

• 18 years of age or older,

• appropriate level of education (V, VI or VII level),

• health condition for work,

• passed the professional exam for work in state bodies (or obligation to pass it within one year after employment),

• that they have not been convicted of criminal offenses that make them unsuitable for work in state bodies,

• that no criminal proceedings have been initiated against them for acts for which they are initiated ex officio,

The Minister added that candidates without previous police experience cannot be older than 30 years old, while candidates with police experience can apply up to the age of 40.

Council of Europe support and compliance with GRECO recommendations

Šaranović said that he was particularly pleased to be able to point out that the Regulation on the Employment of Police Officers was developed and finalized with the full support of Council of Europe experts.

"I am particularly grateful to the Council of Europe Directorate for Human Rights and the Rule of Law and its Director Gianluca Esposito, who, understanding the urgency of the situation, provided additional expert support in the final phase of drafting this Rulebook. Through its implementation, we have also ensured the implementation of key GRECO recommendations, thereby further improving trust in the work of the police," said Šaranović.

Message to candidates

"Apply and be part of a new chapter in the work of our police. This is not just a job opportunity - this is a call from the state to contribute together to reforms and the creation of an advanced security system," said the minister.

The Ministry of Interior stated that all information about the public call, conditions and procedure is available at the official website of that government department.
