A citizen of Bosnia and Herzegovina with temporary residence permit SV (49) was arrested after police in Danilovgrad and Podgorica searched his house, apartment and vehicle and found 600 grams of marijuana in his possession.
"Officers of the Crime Prevention Sector - Drug Control Department, in cooperation with officers of the Border Police Sector and officers of the Podgorica Security Department, as part of planned activities to prevent unauthorized possession and further distribution of narcotics, and to identify persons engaged in the so-called street sale of narcotics, processed one person on suspicion that he had previously been engaged in street sale of narcotics.
"Acting on the order of the Higher Court in Podgorica, police officers in Danilovgrad and Podgorica searched the house, apartment and vehicle used by SV (49), a citizen of Bosnia and Herzegovina with temporary residence in Montenegro. The search resulted in the discovery of the narcotic drug marijuana, weighing approximately 600 grams, intended for street sale," the Police Directorate said in a statement.
The police said that after conducting expert examinations and applying investigative, operational, and other measures and actions in coordination with the Higher State Prosecutor's Office in Podgorica, their officers came to suspect that SV (49) was involved in the smuggling of marijuana that was seized on September 1, 2024 on the Nikšić-Bileća main road in the town of Vraćenovići.
"Namely, on that occasion, an Opel Astra passenger vehicle with Danilovgrad license plates, driven by VV (40), was stopped and checked, and a female passenger in the vehicle, SV (42), was also checked. Upon inspection of the vehicle, a bag containing 15 kg of the narcotic drug marijuana was found in the trunk," the statement added.
The police said that SV was deprived of his liberty with a criminal complaint on suspicion of committing the criminal offense of unauthorized production, possession and distribution of narcotic drugs, and he will be brought to the Higher State Prosecutor's Office in Podgorica for further jurisdiction and action.
"Officers of the Police Directorate, through intensive cooperation and coordination of police organizational units, continue to carry out activities to detect and suppress criminal offenses in the field of drug abuse and trafficking, with the aim of breaking up street drug sales networks, creating a safe environment and preserving the health of citizens," the statement concludes.
