Yesterday, citizens voluntarily returned 64 firearms, 1.142 rounds of ammunition, four hand grenades, detonator caps, explosives, detonating agents, and firearm parts.
To the police In Podgorica, Danilovgrad and Cetinje, 13 weapons were surrendered, of which nine were pistols and four were rifles, 227 pieces of ammunition of various types and calibers, 25 pieces of detonator caps, three bombs, 16 pieces of commercial explosives and 20 meters of slow-burning fuse.
In Bar, Ulcinj, Herceg Novi, Kotor and Budva, 22 firearms, 550 pieces of ammunition of various types and calibers, explosives, as well as weapon parts were voluntarily returned.
In Bijelo Polje, Berane, Plav and Kolašin, a total of nine firearms were voluntarily surrendered, including six pistols and three rifles, 266 rounds of ammunition, nine weapon frames, tear gas, a hand grenade and weapon parts.
Citizens in Nikšić, Žabljak and Pljevlja voluntarily handed over 20 weapons to the police, including 11 pistols and nine rifles, 99 rounds of ammunition, four gun frames and six bayonets.
Since the beginning of January, as part of the campaign "Respect Life, Return Weapons", a total of 1.262 firearms, 40.245 pieces of ammunition, 136 hand grenades, as well as several parts of weapons and explosive devices have been voluntarily handed over to the Police Department.
"We remind you that keeping weapons owned by family members or relatives, regardless of whether or not a probate proceeding has been conducted before the competent court, in accordance with the Weapons Act, constitutes an illegal weapon, until one of the legal heirs obtains a permit to keep that weapon from the Ministry of Internal Affairs," the Police Directorate announced.
They once again noted that citizens can call the police at 122, inform police officers that they want to return the weapon, without any legal, criminal or misdemeanor liability and regardless of whether they possess the weapon illegally or legally.
