During a search of the house and auxiliary facilities used by AB, the police seized several weapons and ammunition, the Police Directorate announced.
"Police officers of the Regional Security Center 'North' - Berane Security Department, in cooperation with the Andrijevica Police Unit, as part of intensified preventive activities aimed at finding and seizing firearms, ammunition and explosives in illegal possession of citizens, found five rifles and ammunition in the possession of one person.
Acting on the order of the Basic Court in Berane, police officers searched the house and auxiliary facilities used by AB, and on that occasion found and seized a Crvena Zastava rifle with two rounds of ammunition in the magazine, a 16-caliber rifle, two rifles of unknown brand and caliber, an M1924 rifle with five rounds of ammunition in the magazine, 172 rounds of ammunition of different brands and calibers, one pistol frame and a pistol percussion mechanism," the statement said.
The police said that the acting prosecutor at the Basic State Prosecutor's Office in Berane was informed of the incident, and upon whose order the weapon in question will be sent for expert examination, after which police officers will file a criminal complaint against AB on suspicion of committing the criminal offense of illegal possession and carrying of weapons and explosives.
"Officers of the Police Directorate continue with continuous intensive activities to suppress the illegal possession and possible carrying of weapons, as well as to prevent the commission of criminal offenses and misdemeanors related to the same, all with the aim of creating and maintaining a safe environment for the life and work of citizens," the statement concludes.
