The security situation in Danilovgrad was stable last year, but not without challenges, and the local Security Department has made significant efforts to maintain and improve public security in that municipality, said the head of the criminal police of the Danilovgrad Security Department, Elvir Tošić.

He told the Volim Danilovgrad portal that last year they filed 91 criminal charges against 95 people, on suspicion of committing 101 criminal offenses.

"The emphasis is on combating domestic violence, juvenile delinquency, property crime, drug abuse and, of course, illegal possession of weapons. However, what I would particularly highlight is the efficient work of our officers, their dedication and cooperation with the local community, which enabled us to react quickly and resolve cases," said Tošić.

He pointed out that over the past year, as part of the fight against drug abuse, they seized more than 4,5 kilograms of cocaine and marijuana.

"In addition, we seized a significant amount of firearms and ammunition, which directly contributes to increasing the safety of all citizens. We conducted 74 searches of apartments and other premises, where we found and seized significant amounts of weapons, explosives and narcotics," Tošić explained.

He noted that, unfortunately, traffic culture still requires improvements.

"In 2024, we recorded 158 traffic accidents, one of which was fatal. Police officers have taken a number of measures in this area - we have arrested 490 people under the Traffic Safety Act, issued 5.556 misdemeanor warrants and filed 962 reports. We have checked over 9.000 drivers and breathalyzed more than 2.000 of them. We will continue with increased surveillance, especially in risk zones, in order to reduce the number of accidents," said Tošić.

The head of Danilovgrad's criminal police appealed to fellow citizens to support the "Respect Life, Return Weapons" campaign and thereby contribute to general security: "But I also call on all citizens to cooperate with us, especially when they notice activities that threaten the security of our community, such as drug distribution or violence."

Tošić announced that in the coming period, he will continue intensive cooperation with citizens, as well as activities aimed at combating juvenile delinquency, combating street drug distribution, detecting illegal weapons, and all other activities important for maintaining a stable state of security and protecting citizens.

"Cooperation with citizens is essential. The police cannot function in isolation - the information we receive from the local community is often key to detecting and preventing crimes. This year, we found 15 wanted persons, including those on international arrest warrants, and in several cases, thanks to the quick reaction of citizens, we caught the perpetrators on the spot. The focus of our work in the coming period will continue to be on combating juvenile delinquency, street distribution of drugs, finding illegal weapons, controlling traffic participants and testing for narcotics. Safety is not just the job of the police - it is the shared responsibility of all of us. I call on citizens to continue their cooperation, to report all suspicious activities to us, especially related to drugs and domestic violence. By joining forces, we can achieve even better results and ensure that Danilovgrad remains a safe place for all of us to live," said Tošić.
