Several members of the Kavač clan arrested

At least five members of the Cetinje and Nikšić cells of the Kavač clan were arrested last night in an operation by the Police Directorate.

According to information from "Vijesti", they were deprived of their liberty in Pljevlja.

Officers from the Crime Prevention Sector and the "West" Regional Police Center participated in the operation.

Ilija Racanović (35) from Budva, Aleksandar Đurđevac (28) from Nikšice, Željko Moštrokol (33), Luka Gazivoda (37) and Igor Mašanović (32), all from Cetinje, were arrested on suspicion of committing the criminal offense of unauthorized possession of weapons and explosives, which carries a prison sentence of two to 10 years.

"A search of the person and vehicle resulted in the discovery of two 'Glock' and 'Česka zbrojevka' pistols with the serial numbers removed, a large quantity of ammunition, as well as other means intended for the commission of criminal offenses. In addition to the weapons and ammunition found, the police also seized two passenger motor vehicles. Available intelligence indicates that by carrying out these activities, the Police Directorate thwarted or prevented the commission of a serious criminal offense," the Police Directorate announced.

It is added that MI and Đ.A. are under a curfew. The police also announced that in the previous period, the police had notified the Higher Court in Podgorica in several individual cases about violations of the curfew by MI and Đ.A.

"The Police Directorate will continue to implement proactive, preventive and repressive activities against these categories of persons and the structures to which they belong, in the coming period, with the aim of preventing their destructive actions and impact on the security situation," the police statement reads.
