Citizens voluntarily surrendered 19 weapons in one day

Yesterday, citizens voluntarily surrendered 19 weapons, 346 pieces of ammunition, a hand grenade, a machine gun, and firearm parts.

As part of the campaign "Respect life, return weapons", 1.915 weapons, 63.450 pieces of ammunition, 201 hand grenades, as well as several hundred weapon parts and explosive devices have been voluntarily surrendered to the Police Department since the beginning of January.

Citizens of Podgorica and Cetinje voluntarily surrendered seven weapons to the police yesterday, including three pistols and four rifles, and 65 rounds of ammunition of various types and calibers.

One firearm and 143 pieces of ammunition of various types and calibers were voluntarily returned in Bar.

A total of six firearms were voluntarily surrendered in Bijelo Polje and Berane, including three rifles, a machine gun, two pistols, 133 pieces of ammunition of various types and calibers, three bombs and weapon parts.

Citizens of Nikšić, Plužine and Pljevlja voluntarily surrendered five firearms, three of which were rifles and two pistols, and five pieces of ammunition.

"We remind you that keeping weapons owned by family members or relatives, regardless of whether or not a probate proceeding has been conducted before a competent court, in accordance with the Weapons Act, constitutes an illegal weapon, until one of the legal heirs obtains a permit to keep that weapon from the Ministry of Internal Affairs," the police said.

They once again noted that citizens can call the police at 122, inform police officers that they want to return the weapon, without any legal, criminal or misdemeanor liability and regardless of whether they own the weapon illegally or legally.
