Citizens voluntarily surrendered 52 weapons yesterday

Yesterday, citizens voluntarily surrendered 52 weapons, 2.537 pieces of ammunition, two hand grenades, 85 detonator caps and firearm parts.

Since the beginning of the year, as part of the "Respect Life, Return Weapons" campaign, a total of 1.967 weapons, 65.987 pieces of ammunition, 203 hand grenades, as well as several hundred weapon parts and explosive devices have been voluntarily handed over to the Police Department.

Citizens in Podgorica, Danilovgrad and Cetinje voluntarily handed over 39 weapons to the police, of which 16 pistols and 23 rifles and 2.122 pieces of ammunition of various types and calibers, 85 pieces of detonator caps, two bombs and parts of weapons.

Four firearms were voluntarily returned in Budva and Ulcinj.

In Mojkovac, Rožaje and Berane, a total of five firearms were voluntarily surrendered, of which two rifles and three pistols, 164 pieces of ammunition of various types and calibers, and weapon parts.

The citizens of Nikšić voluntarily surrendered four firearms, three of which were rifles and a pistol, as well as 251 pieces of ammunition.

"We remind you that keeping weapons owned by family members or relatives, regardless of whether or not a probate proceeding has been conducted before a competent court, in accordance with the Weapons Act, constitutes an illegal weapon, until one of the legal heirs obtains a permit to keep that weapon from the Ministry of Internal Affairs," the police said.

They once again note that citizens can call the police at 122, inform police officers that they want to return the weapon, without any legal, criminal or misdemeanor liability and regardless of whether they possess the weapon illegally or legally.
