The police and the Higher State Prosecutor's Office are determining how the newborn whose body was found yesterday morning in a trash can in the Blok 9 neighborhood of Podgorica died, as well as who left the dead baby in the trash can.
The baby's body was found yesterday morning by a worker from "Čistoća", who immediately called the police.
The Police Department told "Vijesti" late last night that they have not yet determined who abandoned the baby, nor how the newborn boy died, but that they are doing everything they can to shed light on this monstrous act.
They explained that they conducted an on-site investigation and then retrieved footage from surveillance cameras on Slovačka Street in Podgorica, where the child's body was found.
Senior State Prosecutor Snežana Sišević She told Television Vijesti that she had ordered an autopsy.
"Upon learning that a lifeless male newborn was found in a garbage dump on Slovačka Street, I went to the scene and conducted an investigation. During the investigation, evidence was seized that will be subject to appropriate expert examination by the Forensic Center. I also issued an order for an autopsy to determine the newborn's death. There is still no evidence that would indicate the moment of death and the cause, which is why I issued an order for an autopsy that will show exactly those facts," said Šišević.
According to "Vijesti"'s information, by the time this issue of the newspaper was published, the autopsy results had not been delivered to the investigators.
