PP (30) from Danilovgrad was arrested after border police found weapon parts in his luggage, while customs officers seized 95.000 euros worth of toms from a Serbian citizen at Podgorica Airport, the Police Directorate (UP) announced.
"Undertaking joint activities to suppress and detect all forms of cross-border crime, combat smuggling, and find and seize firearms, ammunition and explosives in illegal possession, through cooperation between officers of the Police Administration and officers of the Customs Administration, at the Podgorica Airport border crossing, upon entry into Montenegro, parts of weapons and expensive cigarettes - tompus were seized. Officers of the Customs Administration seized a large quantity of expensive cigarettes - tompus, whose market value is estimated at 95.000 euros, from a citizen of the Republic of Serbia," the statement said.
The Police Department added that proceedings have been initiated against the Serbian citizen before the Basic Court in Podgorica.
The statement says that border police officers found in the luggage owned by the PP: a multi-purpose hunting rifle grip, parts of a hunting rifle grip, a hunting rifle stock, a recoil compensator, a Vortex Strike Eagle rifle scope, an optics extension, a frame holder for hunting ammunition, and multi-purpose canvas bags.
"After collecting information, and by order of the prosecutor at the Basic State Prosecutor's Office in Podgorica, PP was deprived of liberty on suspicion of committing the criminal offense of illegal possession and carrying of weapons and explosives," the UP said.
