Sixty-three years old SB and forty years younger HM were arrested in Podgorica for prostitution in a public place, "Vijesti" has learned.
According to the same information, they were handcuffed on Friday evening, in a parking lot in a Podgorica neighborhood.
During the investigation, police officers determined that a Montenegrin citizen, who had been working temporarily abroad for a long time, paid a 10-year-old woman XNUMX euros for sexual services.
A source from the Police Directorate explained that they had also determined how the two came into contact.
After they were found in a parked car near a retail chain, police officers arrested them both.
"Vijesti" was unofficially told that they were prosecuted for violating Article 27 of the Law on Public Order and Peace.
"Whoever engages in prostitution in a public place or engages in acts that encourage prostitution shall be punished for a misdemeanor with a fine of 200 euros to 1.000 euros or imprisonment for up to 30 days," that article of the Law stipulates.
"Vijesti" was not informed of the sentence imposed on SB and the 23-year-old woman from Podgorica.
Prostitution is generally defined as providing sexual services to another person in exchange for monetary compensation or some other type of consideration.
In addition to being a misdemeanor under the Law on Public Order and Peace, it is also recognized by the Criminal Code of Montenegro. The Criminal Code provides for prison sentences for those who induce or incite another person to engage in prostitution, but does not apply to providers of these services:
"Whoever induces or incites another to engage in prostitution or participates in the transfer of a person to another for the purpose of engaging in prostitution, or whoever propagates or advertises prostitution through the media and other similar means, shall be punished by imprisonment for a term of three months to two years," the Criminal Code stipulates.
A sentence of two to ten years in prison threatens anyone who commits this crime against a minor, but even if the incitement to prostitution is "committed by multiple persons in an organized manner, the perpetrator will be punished with a prison sentence of two to ten years."
The same punishment is prescribed for anyone who uses the sexual services of a minor.
"Prostitution mediation is, for the purposes of this article, the use of a person for sexual activities whereby money or any other form of remuneration or reward is given or promised as payment for engaging that person in sexual activities, regardless of whether that payment, promise or reward is given to that person or to a third party," the legal act explains.
