Searches were carried out at several locations in Nikšić, Plužine, Šavnik and Žabljak, and the list of those whose houses were searched by officers of the Regional Police Center West included the family and close relatives of Boban Baćović, as well as Vukašin Vojinović from Žabljak, Vijesti has learned.
According to unofficial information, the searches are part of a police action aimed at persons of operational interest and alleged members of organized crime groups and persons associated with them.
Vijesti learned that a small amount of drugs, a luxury four-wheeler and weapons were seized during the searches.
However, it was not specified from whom what was seized.
According to unofficial information, searches of Vojinović's houses in Žabljak and Podgorica resulted in the discovery of a starting pistol, for which the Žabljak resident will be held liable for a misdemeanor.
Police seized weapons, ammunition, narcotics and a high-class vehicle during searches in the municipalities of Nikšić, Plužine, Šavnik and Žabljak, an official statement from the Police Directorate (UP) said.
"Police officers from the Šavnik Police Station, in cooperation with police officers from the Nikšić Criminal Police Station of the Security Department, acting on operational information and pursuant to an order of the Higher Court in Bijelo Polje, in order to prevent the commission of criminal offenses, misdemeanors, violence and the discovery of firearms, ammunition and explosives in illegal possession of citizens, searched several facilities owned by AM(48), during which they found and seized: an automatic rifle, a hunting rifle, three rifles of unknown brand and caliber, a Magnum pistol, an optical sight, 196 pieces of ammunition of various types and calibers, and two weapon frames. The acting prosecutor at the Basic State Prosecutor's Office in Pljevlja will rule on the legal qualification of the offense after the expert examinations," the statement reads.
The Nikšić police, with the support of police officers from the Special Police Unit, searched apartments and other facilities used by persons of operational interest and on that occasion seized a Mercedes GLE vehicle registered in the Republic of Serbia from RB (59) "for further checks".
"The house, auxiliary premises and vehicle used by the person of operational interest AB (29) were searched, and on that occasion a scale for precise measurement was found and seized with traces of a powdery substance suspected of being the narcotic drug cocaine. By order of the prosecutor at the Higher State Prosecutor's Office in Podgorica, a misdemeanor charge will be filed against AB under the Law on the Prevention of Drug Abuse," the statement reads.
"Also, through a targeted control of persons and vehicles in traffic, a person LR (22) was controlled in Nikšić, in whose possession approximately 4,3 grams of plant matter suspected to be the narcotic drug marijuana was found. The person was deprived of his liberty for driving under the influence of psychoactive substances and misdemeanor charges will be filed against him for committing violations under the Law on Road Traffic Safety and the Law on the Prevention of Drug Abuse," it added.
The Pljevlja police and their colleagues from Žabljak, in cooperation with police officers from the Regional Security Center "Centar", conducted searches of several residential, business and auxiliary facilities owned or used by a person of operational interest VV (53) in the territories of the municipalities of Podgorica and Žabljak.
"On this occasion, a certain quantity of short and long weapons in the possession of this person was checked, as well as a Walther starter pistol with 53 rounds of ammunition without appropriate documentation, for which an appropriate misdemeanor report will be filed against VV in accordance with the Law on Weapons. Police officers continue to take increased preventive and repressive measures and actions within their jurisdiction in the fight against all forms of illegal activities, combating violence and crime, confiscating weapons in illegal possession of citizens, with the aim of contributing to increasing community security, protecting the lives and property of citizens, and strengthening the rule of law," the UP said.
