Three first-instance verdicts were delivered and 15 hearings were held in the Podgorica Higher Court today, after Supreme Court President Valentina Pavličić took measures to increase the efficiency and effectiveness of the court's work.
As announced by the Supreme and High Court, the first verdict was pronounced by Judge Milena Matović, who found D.Š. and NI guilty of murder and illegal possession of weapons and sentenced them to a single prison sentence of 17 years and six months each.
It is stated that the second verdict was pronounced by Judge Irena Šofranac Nedović, who sentenced GA to 15 years in prison for murder and illegal possession of weapons and explosives.
"By the verdict, pronounced by Judge Veljko Radovanović, MV was found guilty of the criminal offense of attempted murder and sentenced to two years in prison," the joint statement of the Supreme and High Courts said.
As stated, in addition to the published verdicts, 15 main trial hearings were scheduled for today at the Higher Court in Podgorica.
Among other things, hearings were held for the main trial in the cases against Lj.D. due to reasonable suspicion that he committed the criminal offense of unauthorized production, possession and distribution of narcotic drugs, against RR, suspected of murder, as well as a hearing to decide on the appeal against the decision of the investigating judge imposing a temporary measure on the defendants ZK and MK.
"The above data clearly indicate that the Higher Court in Podgorica has continued to increase the number of decisions made in first-instance proceedings," the statement states.
The Supreme and High Courts recalled that upon taking office, Pavličić said that cases of the Special Department of the High Court could not be tried as before and that each judge must have a work program, how and in what manner they would complete their cases.
