Citizens in Bijelo Polje, Berane and Plav voluntarily surrendered eight weapons - five rifles and three pistols, as well as 155 pieces of ammunition.

Six firearms were voluntarily surrendered in Nikšić, Žabljak and Pljevlja - four rifles and two pistols, as well as 55 pieces of ammunition.

"We remind you that keeping weapons owned by family members or relatives, regardless of whether or not a probate proceeding has been conducted before the competent court, in accordance with the Weapons Act, constitutes an illegal weapon, until one of the legal heirs obtains a permit to keep that weapon from the Ministry of Internal Affairs," the Police Directorate announced.

They note that citizens can call the police at 122 and inform police officers that they want to return the weapon, without any legal, criminal or misdemeanor liability and regardless of whether the weapon is in illegal or legal possession.
