Detained NN (32) committed suicide last night in the Spuž Remand Prison.
This was confirmed by "News" from that institution.
He has been in custody since December 2023, and was arrested as a member of a six-member team, charged with the criminal offense of creating a criminal organization and the aggravated criminal offense of unauthorized production, possession and distribution of narcotic drugs.
The Directorate for the Execution of Criminal Sanctions announced that on February 23, at around 22 p.m., the lifeless body of detainee NN was found in the toilet of one of the rooms where detainees are held.
"In accordance with the provisions of the Rules on the Detailed Method of Enforcement of Detention, which regulate the accommodation of detained persons, detainee NN was placed in a single room. The Directorate for the Execution of Criminal Sanctions immediately notified the Police Directorate and the competent prosecutor's office of the aforementioned event in order to take action within their jurisdiction and determine the exact cause of the prisoner's death. The family of the deceased person was also notified," the statement reads.
