Serbian Minister of Justice Maja Popović has issued a decision allowing the extradition of Alija Balijagić to the judicial authorities of Montenegro, reports N1.
Balijagić is suspected of the murder of Milenka and Jovan Madžgalj near Bijelo Polje.
The Higher State Prosecutor's Office in Bijelo Polje is charging him with the criminal offense of aggravated murder, in conjunction with the criminal offense of illegal possession and carrying of weapons and explosives.
Previously, the decision of the Higher Court in Užice dated January 10, which became final on February 7, determined that the prerequisites for Balijagić's extradition, as stipulated in the provisions of the extradition treaty between Serbia and Montenegro and the provisions of the Law on International Legal Assistance in Criminal Matters, had been met.
Balijagić was arrested in Serbia on November 21, 2024, after almost a month of hiding, and on November 22, the Ministry of Justice of Montenegro submitted a request to the Ministry of Justice of Serbia for Balijagić's extradition for criminal prosecution.
