Citizens return 20 more weapons

From January 2 to March 6, a total of 3.313 weapons, 110.891 pieces of ammunition, 357 hand grenades, as well as several hundred parts of weapons and explosive devices were voluntarily surrendered, the Police Directorate announced.

They state that yesterday alone – March 5th, 20 weapons, 751 pieces of ammunition and one hand grenade were voluntarily returned in municipalities across Montenegro.

The largest quantity of firearms and ammunition, according to the Police Directorate, was handed over to the Regional Security Center "Centar" in Podgorica.

"In the territory under the jurisdiction of the Regional Security Center 'Centar' in Podgorica, citizens voluntarily handed over 11 weapons to the police, of which four pistols and seven rifles, and 473 pieces of ammunition of various types and calibers," the statement reads.

Two weapons were voluntarily returned to police officers of the Regional Security Center "South" - in Bar and Herceg Novi, including one pistol and one rifle, and 66 pieces of ammunition, while three firearms were handed over to the Regional Security Center in the territory of Nikšić and Pljevlja, namely three pistols and 38 pieces of ammunition.

Yesterday, citizens of Plav also surrendered a certain number of firearms.

"In the northern region of the country, in the territory under the jurisdiction of the Regional Security Center 'North', in Plav, four weapons were voluntarily surrendered, of which two pistols and two rifles, 174 pieces of ammunition and one hand grenade," the Police Directorate announced.

They remind that citizens can return weapons by calling 122, after which there will be no legal, criminal or misdemeanor liability, regardless of whether the weapons are in illegal or legal possession.
