Yesterday, in the village of Nedakusi in Bijelo Polje, in a vehicle driven by Turkish citizen SM (43), the police found a hookah, 111 boxes of hookah tobacco and two ten-kilogram packages containing hookah embers, without proper documentation, with an estimated value of around 1.300 euros, the Police Directorate (UP) announced today.
It is also stated that the items found were confiscated.
"Officers of the Border Police Sector, in cooperation with officers of the Bijelo Polje Security Department, while undertaking activities aimed at combating cross-border crime and smuggling of excise goods, found tobacco products without appropriate documentation during a check on a Turkish citizen. Yesterday, at around 12 noon, on the Prijepolje-Bijelo Polje road, in the town of Nedakusi, border police officers in Bijelo Polje controlled a passenger motor vehicle with Tivat license plates, driven by SM (43), a Turkish citizen, with temporary residence in Montenegro. During the inspection of the vehicle, hookahs, 111 boxes of hookah tobacco from various manufacturers, and two packages of 10 kilograms each containing hookah embers, without proper documentation, with an estimated value of around 1.300 euros, were found and seized," the UP statement said.
The institution added that it is suspected that SM purchased the aforementioned products in Serbia from an unknown person, with the intention of selling them in Montenegro for a higher value.
"After conducting a criminal investigation, and on the order of the acting prosecutor at the Basic State Prosecutor's Office in Bijelo Polje, a criminal complaint was filed against SM on suspicion of committing the criminal offense of illicit trafficking," the UP statement reads.
