Podgorica police arrested SB (27) on suspicion of leaving a hand grenade near the bridge in Franca Rozmana Street, in Podgorica.
"Acting on operational information that a hidden explosive device was located near the bridge, on Franca Rozmana Street in Podgorica, police officers from the Podgorica Security Department took urgent measures and actions and secured the wider scene. A visit to the scene by police officers found an M75 hand grenade, without a fuse in the bucket seat," the Police Directorate announced.
Officers from the Protection and Rescue Directorate also arrived at the scene, and, the statement added, they determined that it was impossible to safely transport the bomb, after which the explosive device was activated and destroyed under controlled conditions.
"By undertaking further activities to find the person who left this device at the aforementioned location, SB (27) from Podgorica was identified, who, after criminal investigation, was deprived of liberty by order of the acting prosecutor on suspicion of committing the criminal offense of illegal possession and carrying of weapons and explosives," the police announced.
