The Šavnica police arrested Danilo Janković (43) on suspicion of attacking a police officer at the police station in that city yesterday, the Police Directorate (UP) announced.

"Yesterday at around 14 p.m., DJ (43) approached the official premises of the Šavnik Police Station and, on that occasion, insulted and threatened a police officer who was at his workplace, and then punched him several times in the head and neck, after which he fled in an unknown direction," the statement said.

The UP said that Janković was located and brought to the premises of the Šavnik Police Station to collect information.

"After reviewing the collected information, medical documentation and other case files, the state prosecutor at the Basic State Prosecutor's Office in Pljevlja ordered that DJ be deprived of his liberty and criminal charges be filed against him on suspicion of committing the criminal offense of assault on an official in the performance of official duty. He will be brought before the prosecutor in charge today," the statement reads.
