Since the beginning of the year, Montenegrin citizens have voluntarily surrendered 3.430 weapons, 114.617 pieces of ammunition, 373 hand grenades and several hundred parts of weapons and explosive devices, the Police Directorate announced, calling on citizens to continue the action.
The police thanked citizens who recognized the importance of the "Respect Life, Return the Weapons" campaign, which is being implemented with the aim of building a peaceful and safe environment for everyone.
They said that in the past six days, 39 weapons, 690 pieces of ammunition and eight hand grenades have been voluntarily returned in municipalities across Montenegro.
"In Podgorica, Danilovgrad and Cetinje, citizens voluntarily handed over 19 weapons to the police, of which 11 pistols and five rifles, 356 pieces of ammunition of various types and calibers and two hand grenades," the statement said.
It is stated that three weapons, one pistol and two rifles, as well as 90 rounds of ammunition, were voluntarily returned to police officers in Bar and Ulcinj.
"Nine weapons were voluntarily surrendered in Bijelo Polje, Kolašin and Plav, including four pistols and five rifles, 75 rounds of ammunition and six hand grenades," the police said.
As they said, eight firearms were voluntarily surrendered to police officers in Nikšić, Plužine and Pljevlja, including five pistols and three rifles, as well as 169 pieces of ammunition.
"We call on citizens to continue with a responsible and conscientious attitude that demonstrates shared care for the community and contributes to a safer society," the police said.
