Police officers arrested 25 drivers in the northern and central regions of the country for violations of the Road Traffic Safety Act, the Police Directorate announced.
It is stated that most drivers were arrested for driving under the influence of alcohol and speeding, and that police officers also issued over 300 misdemeanor warrants and seized two vehicles.
"Due to exceeding the speed limit on the highway, the Mobile Traffic Police Unit arrested a driver from Ulcinj, KU (48), who was driving at a speed of 213 kilometers per hour (km/h)," the statement said.
It is added that, as part of Operation Brzina, officers checked 272 people and issued 218 misdemeanor warrants for committed offenses.
As stated in the statement, Kolašin police officers also arrested a person of operational interest, BK (39) from Kolašin.
"He was driving a vehicle with an expired license, and he refused to undergo testing for the presence of psychoactive substances in his body, after which the test determined that he was driving under the influence of alcohol with a concentration of 1,79 per mille," the statement said.
It is added that the misdemeanor judge imposed a fine of 920 euros on him.
"BK is a repeat offender, and was previously arrested for driving under the influence of drugs," the police said.
They also announced that, as part of Operation Tragač, the police seized a Mercedes vehicle from MB (36), which he was driving without license plates and the necessary documentation.
It is added that the vehicle will be subject to further checks.
The Police Directorate said that Podgorica police officers carried out actions last night to increase traffic control over Speed, Alcohol and PAS, and on that occasion arrested 23 people, issued 117 misdemeanor warrants and seized one vehicle.
"Of the total number of arrests, ten were arrested for exceeding the speed limit, ten for driving under the influence of alcohol and three for driving under the influence of psychoactive substances," the statement said.
It is added that MK from Podgorica was arrested for driving with a blood alcohol content of 2,32 per mille.
