Edmir Ramović admitted that he shot in front of the courthouse in Rožaje, stressing that he did not want to kill anyone, nor did he have any reason for revenge.
He said this yesterday in the Higher Court, before which he is standing trial for the death of Semir Murić and the simultaneous wounding of police officer Refik Dedeić, in the center of Rožaje in December 2021.
He is charged with aggravated murder in an attempt at reckless revenge.
The indictment alleges that on December 21, 2021, in Rožaje, out of ruthless revenge, for an event that occurred a year earlier, in which the now deceased Semir Murić and several members of his family participated, against whom criminal proceedings are being conducted in the Basic Court in Rožaje for causing bodily harm to close family members of the defendant, Ramović deprived the life of Semir Murić.
Due to the delay in the proceedings and the possibility that Ramović could be released due to the passage of 3 years in detention since the indictment was filed, the Higher Court separated this proceeding from the other Ramovićs, who are being held accountable for their participation in the fight.
After the indictment was read by prosecutor Tanja Nišavić, the defendant's defense attorney, attorney Drago Konatar, and after being allowed a two-minute conversation, the defendants requested a postponement of the hearing in order to familiarize themselves with the details of the indictment.
After deliberation, Judge Ivan Adamović rejected such a proposal, pointing out that even the commas remained in the same places, while attorney Konatar objected to the fact that other defendants were mentioned in the same indictment, even though they were neither present in the proceedings nor physically present.
Ramović said that he sincerely regrets everything that happened and that he had never had a single problem with the Murićs before.
He said that that day, in front of the court, the now deceased Semir Murić first attacked him with blows from behind, and that he saw him hit his father, after which he shot him out of fear.
"Before I fell from the blows, I was hit by a car. I fell to the ground and the Murićs put a cap on my head and a jacket halfway down my back. I was fighting for air. My arms were crossed, the left under the right armpit and vice versa, and my head was on the ground with the left side (while police officer Dedeić was coming from the opposite side). I don't even remember the sound of the shots, my right arm felt like it was broken," Ramović said, adding that he didn't even notice the wounded police officer and that any of his close relatives could have been shot instead.
Police officer Refik Dedeić said that he sustained an injury to his left thigh when he was moving towards one of the three people lying in front of the courthouse.
"When I approached one of them, I saw a gun, but I don't remember what position it was in, or whether that person changed the position of their hand. About a meter away from him, I heard a shot and saw that my trouser leg was damaged and that I was wounded," said Dedeić, adding that he did not know in whose hand the gun was at the time of the shot, or who fired the shot.
The father of the deceased young man, Senad Murić, said that before the fatal incident, Edmir Murić participated in several separate fights in which he was also injured.
He pointed out that Edmir, together with Elsan Ramović, participated in the beating of his nephew Haris Murić in October 2020, while he was being treated at the Emergency Department in Rožaje, and that he himself, later in the hospital in Berane, was beaten by Edmir's father Ernes, and that Edmir cursed at his mother.
Making a series of accusations against the work of the police in Rožaje, who he believes could have prevented the incident if they had done their job, he explained that after that incident, in the detention cell of the Rožaje Military Police, in the presence of police officer Remzo Kalač, he heard Dr. Hajran Kalač come to Ramović's cell and pull Edmir out with the words: "Come on, nephew, get out of here, you're not in charge of this," said Senad Murić.
Senad Murić told "Vijesti" after the hearing that he later remembered that it was not Dr. Harjan Kalač who pulled Edmir out of the cell, but police officer Remzo Kalač.
He said that before the fatal incident, he heard Salko Ramović, who had initiated the incident in front of the court, say in the cafe: "Today two people are falling, Semir and Milja (Mirsad)," and that at his son's funeral he learned from a relative that Fata, the wife of Sabar Ramović, had given Edmir the gun.
In addition to numerous shortcomings in the work of the police in Rožaje, Senad Murić also told the court that Edmir's murder was instigated by his father Ernes and uncle Ernad from Berlin, and that they said they would give 300 thousand euros to get him out of prison, and that Ernes Ramović, in response to various attempts and offers from several conciliators, before the fatal incident, to reconcile due to previous quarrels, only shook his head and repeated: "Just a dead head, just a dead head."
"In front of the court, Ernad Ramović first punched me in the back, then their cousin Crnovršanin kicked me in the right leg, then Edmir punched me in the head, while Ernes Ramović punched me several times in the shoulder and face," said Senad Murić, emphasizing that he heard the shots but did not see anything, because he was pulled under Ernes' jacket to protect himself from his blows.
Defense attorney Drago Konatar objected to Senad Murić's testimony, pointing out that he neither has direct knowledge nor speaks based on facts, but rather on stories from the čaršija.
The hearing was postponed and three dates for the next hearing were scheduled: April 15, 22, and 23.
