Turkish citizen YK (32) was arrested at the Sukobin border crossing (BP) last night, suspected of attempted bribery, the Police Directorate (UP) announced.
"Last night, at around 21 pm, at the joint border crossing Sukobin-Murićani, while leaving Montenegro, heading towards the Republic of Albania, YK (32), a Turkish citizen, approached passport control, who was acting as a tourist guide on a bus that had previously been stopped due to overtaking a convoy of vehicles," the statement said.
The UP said that after the bus was pulled over to the side due to overtaking a convoy of vehicles, YK is suspected of approaching a police officer and showing his travel document, which contained two 50 euro banknotes, and offering them to him in order to let him continue his journey.
"The state prosecutor at the Basic State Prosecutor's Office in Ulcinj was informed of the incident in question, on whose order YK was deprived of liberty on suspicion of having committed the criminal offense of bribery, after which he was handed over to the Ulcinj Security Department for further action. He will be brought to the prosecutor's office for further jurisdiction, along with a criminal report within the legal deadline," the statement reads.
"The driver of the aforementioned bus, SS (38), a citizen of Bosnia and Herzegovina, was fined for a misdemeanor for committing a violation under the Road Traffic Safety Act," it added.
