Dalibor Nikolić sentenced to 40 years in prison for murdering his wife Zumrita Nerda

Dalibor Nikolić was sentenced to 40 years in prison for the brutal murder of his wife Baranka Zumrita Nerda (27) in January 2022.

The verdict was announced today by the Court of Appeal of Montenegro.

He was previously sentenced to 12 years in the Higher Court in Podgorica.

"The Court of Appeal of Montenegro today publicly announced the verdict by which it modified the verdict of the Higher Court in Podgorica K. No. 113/24 of 07.10.2024, by declaring the accused Dalibor Nikolić guilty of the criminal offense of aggravated murder and sentencing him to a long-term prison sentence of 40 years. The decision was made and publicly announced after a hearing held before the Court of Appeal in the procedure for deciding on the appeal of the Higher State Prosecutor's Office filed against the first-instance verdict of the Higher Court in Podgorica. By that verdict, this accused was found guilty of the criminal offense of domestic or family violence and sentenced to 12 years in prison," the Court of Appeal announced.
