The Berane police filed a criminal complaint against MR (34) from that city, suspected of forest theft.
Also, at the request of the prosecutor's office, the police seized vehicles loaded with timber and are searching for the person who was driving the truck.
"During a check on the regional road Kolašin-Berane, police officers spotted an off-road vehicle without license plates, which was transporting wood assortments. This vehicle did not stop at the stop sign issued by police officers, after which it drove away in the direction of the city. Measures and actions were immediately taken to identify and locate the driver of the aforementioned vehicle, who, upon arriving in the town of Donje Luge, was spotted while the person driving it at that moment fled. After the activities undertaken on the spot, the state prosecutor at the Basic State Prosecutor's Office in Berane was informed of the incident, upon whose order the vehicle in question with the wood assortments was temporarily seized, while the wood assortments were surveyed by officers of the Forest and Hunting Management Administration," the Police Administration announced.
The statement added that MR committed the crime by illegally cutting down two pine trees with a total mass of over seven cubic meters in the state forest in the town of Kučina Gora, Berane, without proper documentation, thereby causing damage to the Forest and Hunting Management Administration in the amount of 821,34 euros.
