The statement from the Pljevlja Security Department, signed by Mayor Radoje Živković, states that the police are constantly taking preventive and repressive measures and actions aimed at improving the state of road safety in the municipality of Pljevlja.
"Due to violations for which the Traffic Safety Act and the Misdemeanors Act prescribe deprivation of liberty, 22 drivers were deprived of liberty, of which: 16 drivers were deprived of liberty for driving under the influence of alcohol with a concentration greater than one gram per kilogram of alcohol in the body, three drivers for refusing a breathalyzer test, one driver tested positive for narcotics and two drivers for refusing a narcotics test," the statement said.
A preventive and repressive campaign "Let it ring - life is more important" was also implemented, with the aim of suppressing the use of mobile phones while driving. On this basis, 22 misdemeanor warrants were issued to drivers.
"We emphasize that police officers in the inner city zone are taking measures and actions to ensure that traffic in the city area flows smoothly, as well as when it comes to parking in places where it is not allowed, which is why they issued 68 misdemeanor warrants in March related to parking violations. Since the beginning of 2025, 191 misdemeanor warrants have been issued for improper parking of vehicles. Traffic police officers will, in the coming period, continue to implement planned activities aimed at preventive police action to preserve the safety of all traffic participants, prevent traffic accidents, thereby contributing to improving the overall security situation," the statement reads.
The police appealed to drivers to respect traffic regulations, to use seat belts while driving, and to park vehicles in places where this is permitted.
