Identifying and sanctioning all persons whose actions were not in accordance with the law and professional standards is the basis for reform and healing the system, it was announced at a session of the Bureau for Operational Coordination of the Intelligence and Security Sector (BOK).
As announced by the office of the BOK Coordinator and Deputy Prime Minister Aleksa Bečić, the excellent cooperation between the Police Directorate and the National Security Agency was affirmed at the session.
It is stated that the Bureau's strong support to the Ministry of Internal Affairs (MUP) and the Police Directorate in the decisive and systematic fight to free the security sector from all illegal influences was highlighted.
"Identifying and sanctioning all those whose actions were not in accordance with the law and professional standards is the basis for reform and healing the system," the statement said.
The Bureau, as stated by Bečić's cabinet, strongly affirms the continuation of these activities as a key prerequisite for restoring citizens' trust in institutions and strengthening the security system in the service of the public interest.
They stated that the BOK praised the results achieved by the Police Directorate in the fight against serious and organized crime, which in the past two months alone resulted in the filing of around 800 criminal reports against more than 900 individuals.
"The Bureau particularly pointed out the results of the operation, which resulted in the return of 3.472 weapons, 116.424 pieces of ammunition, 381 hand grenades, as well as several hundred parts of weapons and explosive devices since the beginning of the year, which is more than in the previous ten years within the aforementioned operation," the statement said.
It is stated that the Ministry of Interior informed the Bureau that the working group has prepared a Draft Law on Road Traffic Safety, which will soon be subject to public debate.
Bečić's office said that, within just 72 hours, 122 people were arrested for traffic safety violations.
"The Bureau recalls that the failure to issue first-instance verdicts within three years, the inefficiency of court processes due to procedural abuses, and the inadequate conduct of judicial authorities due to violations of supervision measures constitute a security challenge of a kind, and once again appeals for urgent amendments to all relevant laws in this area," the statement said.
The BOK, as stated, was informed of the reports on the work of the interdepartmental working teams, and also considered several other issues within its jurisdiction.
The session was attended by Minister of Internal Affairs Danilo Šaranović.
