The fact is that the Sky application can be electronic evidence, which we could include under the evidence we use in our law, said Judge Ilija Radulović today in the courtroom of the Basic Court, refusing to exclude transcripts from the once-protected application from the proceedings against two suspended police officers.
He said this at the beginning of the trial of Petar Lazović and Jugoslav Raičević, accused of abusing members of the Škalja clan, Milo Jovanović and Jovan Mrvaljević.
Lazović and Raičević denied guilt, claiming that the proceedings were initiated to discredit them and degrade the results achieved by the Sector to which they belonged in the fight against organized crime.
"I understood what the indictment charges me with. I do not admit guilt, I did not commit the crimes I am accused of... I explained myself in detail to the prosecutor and answered questions from everyone present, but I understood that the goal was not to establish the truth, but to prosecute me. The court had the same goal in the phase of confirming the indictment, which is why I will not answer questions from anyone except my defense attorneys. I also understand the background of the criminal prosecution against me - to criminalize everything we have achieved in the sector in which I worked and to criminalize myself, and to relativize our results," said Lazović.
He pointed out that they received recognition from the European Commission for their work.
"It is paradoxical that those against whom we fought and who planned the commission of the most serious crimes are now presenting themselves as victims... I would like to point out that we never tortured these individuals or anyone else, we acted exclusively legally," he said.
He added that it is interesting that no one is now mentioning the proceedings being conducted against the alleged injured parties, which were initiated for the most serious criminal offenses: "The implementation of which they were prevented precisely by me and my colleagues."
Raičević said that he understood the language of the indictment, but that he did not feel guilty nor did he admit to the indictment.
"I don't feel guilty, and I'm sure this court will determine that... That night I saw Mrvaljević Jovan for the first time in my life, I've never seen him before and never since, or maybe we met in prison, but I wouldn't have known him. He complained that he had diabetes, I didn't make that up. After that, we acted in the only way possible - humanely and professionally, we took him to the hospital. From this position, even though I'm not a doctor, I think he felt more like going to the hospital that night than to the police," Raičević said.
He assessed that the indictment was drawn up to discredit him.
"I didn't know who this person was, but I'm sure he told this to harm me personally and discredit me, and I don't know if he can make it easier for himself in this way in the actions that are being seen against him," he said.
