Montenegrin police conducted several searches in Podgorica, Nikšić and Cetinje, five people were arrested, and a rifle, a pistol, ammunition, two hand grenades, as well as almost 33 grams of cocaine and 58 grams of marijuana were found, the Police Directorate (UP) announced.
"Officers of the Podgorica Security Department conducted searches at two locations owned by RM (68). During a search of the house used by RM in Podgorica, a rifle and a pistol with ammunition were found, while two hand grenades were found at another location in Lijeva Rijeka. After being briefed, the acting prosecutor ordered RM to be deprived of his liberty on suspicion of committing the criminal offense of illegal possession and carrying of weapons and explosives," the statement reads.
"Officers of the SBPK Drug Control Department, in cooperation with officers of the Podgorica Security Department, deprived AD (37) of his liberty. During searches of his apartment and vehicle, they found and confiscated 22 PVC packages of a white powdery substance resembling the narcotic drug cocaine, weighing approximately 33 grams, which is suspected to have been intended for so-called street sales, 3.535 euros suspected to have originated from a criminal offense, two mobile phones and a scale for precise measurement. By order of the state prosecutor at the Higher State Prosecutor's Office in Podgorica, AD was deprived of his liberty on suspicion of having committed the criminal offense of unauthorized production, possession and distribution of narcotic drugs," it added.
The Police Department said that the Cetinje police found a PVC package containing about 39 grams of plant matter resembling marijuana in the possession of RM (49) from Budva.
"The state prosecutor at the Higher State Prosecutor's Office in Podgorica was informed of the event and ordered that the case files be submitted to him for evaluation and decision," the statement said.
"Officers of the Nikšić Security Department arrested NT (22) and MD (22), citizens of the Republic of Serbia, in whose possession the narcotic drug marijuana was found. NT was arrested on suspicion of committing the criminal offense of facilitating the consumption of narcotic drugs, while MD was arrested for committing a misdemeanor under Article 52 of the Law on the Prevention of Drug Abuse," the UP said.
They state that after the hearing, the Police Directorate issued a decision to cancel the residence permit with a ban on entry into Montenegro NT and MD
"Police officers continue with daily coordinated activities to combat all forms of crime and preventive action aimed at creating a safe environment for citizens," the UP points out.
